Green Group of the Month:
Center for Health, Environment & Justice

The Center for Health, Environment & Justice (CHEJ) helps unite community voices and facilitates collective action by building nationwide collaborative initiatives focused around specific environmental health issues. Currently, CHEJ is focused on environmental health threats to children and building public support for preventive action to protect public health, the environment and the economy.

The group was founded upon American Academy of Pediatrics and National Academy of Sciences findings that children are uniquely susceptible to hazardous environmental exposures. In addition, they have determined that many of these exposures can cause or contribute to disease and disrupt development, learning and behavior.

Recently, CHEJ established a new initiative, "Childproofing Our Communities," that includes a Green Cleaning website for schools with fact sheets on:

  • Green Cleaning for Schools Q & A
  • Certified Green Cleaning Products
  • Guides to Implementing Green Cleaning Programs
  • Green Cleaning PowerPoint Presentations
  • State and Local Green Cleaning Initiatives
  • Green Cleaning Contractors
  • Training
