Volume 3 Issue 11 - November 2007
Welcome to DestinationGreen!
Thanksgiving kicks off our holiday season - and I feel we do have plenty to be thankful about in 2007. We made great strides in our effort to bring green cleaning into the mainstream, and enjoyed plenty of success as we continue to change the world.
As we look to the new year, this is the time to resist the urge to rest and instead use the momentum we have harnessed. This month's issue of DestinationGreen contains a green selling tip that I hope all of you read - whether you are in sales or not. The article is about leadership, and that is the next role those of us involved in green cleaning must embrace very soon. By educating ourselves about green cleaning, and being versed in the products and procedures involved - we have elevated our positions from salespeople and facility managers - to experts in a field of overwhelming demand. We hope you embrace this role as a welcome responsibility.
A simple way you may launch your position as a true leader in green cleaning is to get your business registered for the Cleaning Industry Climate Initiative if you have not already done so. This is a measurable way for all of us to show that the cleaning industry is doing its part to stem the tide of global warming and make the world a better place.
And while we do feel this is a rather hefty issue, those of you looking for even more Green selling information should check out the information and link below to the new book from David Holly and I, Green Selling Tips - now available for purchase online.
Finally, I want to draw your attention to the article on Green Seal’s Revision of GS37. This is a very important activity with huge implications for our industry and you’ll want to know what’s going on.
Best of wishes to all of you and your families through this Holiday Season.
As always, we encourage you to share your personal and professional strategies for “Going Green” with us for future columns. Submit them to editor@destinationgreen.com.
Green Selling Tip: Now Is The Time For You To Lead
This month, our “Green Selling Tip” is focused more on leadership that on sales. Please know that it’s NOT because we don’t think selling is important or that we’ve covered everything there is to say about selling Green products and services. Rather, as I observe the accelerating growth of the Green Movement, it is becoming clear to me that the real key to future sales success will be leadership. To read more, click here.

Ashkin Group News: Cleaning Industry Climate Initiative launched!
The Cleaning Industry Climate Initiative will create awareness and help companies, especially janitorial product distributors and facility
service providers to voluntarily begin measuring, reducing and offsetting their
emissions.
The Green Cleaning Network, the initiative’s co-sponsor along with the Leonardo Academy, has stuck true to the wishes of its Board of Directors – permitting only end-users in their online forums. But, due to the overwhelming interest from the supply side of the marketplace and their wish to become directly involved in making an important contribution to finding solutions for climate change, the initiative is particularly designed for distributors and facility service providers.

Tests reveal high chemical levels in kids' bodies. Most in the cleaning industry haven't heard of body burden testing, but it's a hot topic among environmentalists and public health experts who warn that the industrial chemicals we come into contact with every day are accumulating in our bodies and endangering our health in ways we have yet to understand.
