Volume 3 Issue 7 - July 2007

Welcome to DestinationGreen!

It looks like the Green movement has finally hit the top of the charts. Never was that clearer than on July 7, when Live Earth, a 24-hour worldwide, live-music marathon galvanized 150 rock musicians to make it clear that fighting global warming is crucial…and cool. An eclectic mix of rock stars took to stages in London, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Johannesburg, Hamburg, Shanghai and Rio De Janeiro. Even in Antarctica, a rock band comprising British scientists played for a small audience! Reports claim that 2 billion people attended the events or watched or listened on TV, on the radio or over the internet. In fact, the entire world should have tuned in.

Live Earth was a gigantic public awareness campaign to energize and rally citizens across the globe to take immediate steps to keep their home planet hospitable to humans or suffer severe consequences. That’s why I thought it was important to recognize Live Earth as July’s Green Group of the Month and give readers of DestinationGreen the opportunity to sign the group’s seven-point pledge to help fight global warming. Read the story below or click here [http://liveearthpledge.org/algore.php] to take the pledge. Our planet needs you!

By the way, we hope you’ll share your personal and professional strategies for “Going Green” with us for future columns. Submit them to editor@destinationgreen.com.

Green cleaning products and procedures have been around long enough for most of us to have heard the same objections, such as “It costs too much”, “Does it really work?,” “We like what we are using now,” and “We won’t change until they make us!”  All are valid concerns and if not dealt with, could cost you the sale. But they are not insurmountable, and by using the tools at your disposal, a successful conclusion to the process can be achieved.
