Innovation in Operation and Upgrades Credit 1.1-1.4
1-4 Points

To provide building operation, design teams and projects the opportunity to be awarded points for exceptional performance above the requirements set by the LEED-EB Rating System and/or innovative performance in Green Building categories not specifically addressed by LEED-EB Rating System.

Credit 1.1 (1 point) Provide documentation of each proposed innovation credit including a description of the action, the additional environmental benefits of the action, the performance in delivering these additional environmental benefits over the performance period.

Potential Technologies & Strategies:

As the intent implies, these credits are awarded for “exceptional” performance beyond what is already addressed in the LEED-EB Rating System.  Unfortunately there is little history to provide specific guidance for these credits, but cleaning companies might apply for innovation credits based on products and strategies that reduce energy or water consumption, the use of biobased chemicals, encouraging the use of products with recycled content that are not otherwise identified in the Rating System, etc.
